Tina Gray (Gray) Walter

Tina Gray Walter, 56, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 22, 2016, at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 3, 1960, in Cambridge. She was the daughter of the late Harvey Watson Gray and Rose Spear Gray.

Tina attended schools in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge-South Dorchester High School.  On August 20, 1977, she married Laurence J. Walter, Jr.  They resided in Cambridge their entire marriage.

Tina was employed briefly by the Dorchester County Board of Education, then many years with the City of Cambridge Planning & Zoning Commission. She was later employed by Hi-Tech Plastics and Mentor Maryland.

Survivors include her devoted husband, Laurence J. Walter, Jr., of Cambridge; a daughter, Melissa Campbell (Doug), of Jacksonville, FL; a son, Laurence J. Walter III (Liz), of Timonium, MD; and granddaughters Elisabeth (Ebbie) and Isabelle (Izzy) Campbell, of Jacksonville, FL.  She is also survived by three sisters; Faye Willey (Gerald), of Huntingtown, MD; Debbie Baynard (David), of Trappe, MD; Betty Elzey (Danny Watkins), of Easton, MD; and one brother, Harvey W. Gray, Jr. (Cindy), of Gaithersburg, MD. In addition, she is survived by the following nieces and nephews: Von Willey, Eddie Willey (Pam), Chuck Creighton (Laura), Billy Creighton (Diana), Allison Rosenthal (Kevin), Julie Trommatter (Matthew), Morgan Travers (Melissa Hiers), Sara Pritchard (P.J. Criss), Megan Elzey (Eddie Anders), Lauren Elzey (Cody Downs), and their families.

Tina and Laurence were high school sweethearts, and when they married, Tina was welcomed into a large and loving extended family. She leaves behind a father-in-law, Donald Ruark; sisters-in-law Bonnie Moore, Shirley Marshall (Rex), Jane Dorman (Sonny), Pat McDonald (Kenny), Donna Kibbe (Marty); and brothers-in-law Ray Raines (Carolyn) and Jim Walter (Gayle); and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Leona Pritchard and Jean Foster, mother-in-law Shirley Ruark; father-in-law Laurence J. Walter, Sr., sister-in-law Diane Walter, and niece Katie Kibbe.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11 am at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Christina Blake officiating. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to Baywater Animal Rescue, 4930 Bucktown Road, Cambridge, MD 21613, or to a charity of one’s choice.
