Verna E. Willey

Verna E. Willey, 81, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at her home. She was born in Wilmington, DE on February 20, 1931 and was a daughter of the late Ernest and Madeline Peters Wheatley.
She attended and graduated from Marshallton High School. On November 24, 1949, she married Eldridge M. Willey. Mrs. Willey worked at Airpax and later worked and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She enjoyed sewing, reading and traveling. Mrs. Willey was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she had been a member since November 12, 1967.
She is survived by her husband Eldridge M. Willey of Cambridge, two children Linda Thorne of Ocean City and Dexter Willey and wife Tammy of East New Market, three grandchildren Melissa Sweeney, Suzanne Martens and Matthew Thorne and four great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Mrs. Willey is preceded in death by two sisters Viola Walker and Virginia Poole and a grandson C.J. Willey.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 30, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Christina M. Blake officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.
