Virginia Victoria Lyons, 91, of Cambridge passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Chesapeake Woods Center. She was born in Cambridge on September 10, 1920 and was the daughter of the late James Henry & Apalonia E. Warst.
Ms. Lyons graduated from Cambridge High School in 1937. She worked as a seamstress until her retirement. She was a longtime member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Cambridge and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7460. Among her many interests were traveling, crocheting, baking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two children Estelle Gore and Charles Lyons of Cambridge, three grandchildren James Leonard of Cambridge, Virginia Leonard of Easton, Chris Leonard of Baltimore and two great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Ms. Lyons is preceded in death by a brother James Hooper Warst(Buddy).
Pallbearers will be Charles Lyons, Chris Leonard, Zachary Leonard and members of Immanuel United Church of Christ.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Dorchester Memorial Park with Rev. Anne Swallow Gillis officiating. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
