W. John Kersey, 85, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 18, 2013. He was born on October 25, 1927 in North Wales, Pennsylvania to the late Walter and Eva Lambert Kersey.
Mr. Kersey married Dolores James on October 15, 1954. He was an instructor at Delmarva Power for 46 years. He enjoyed traveling with his family, boating, crabbing and fishing. He was a member of St. Matthews by the Sea and Grace Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post #91, the Elks Lodge #1272, and the Drum and Bugle Corps. Mr. Kersey's family meant the world to him and he always put them first. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Dolores Kersey, a daughter Ellen Kersey of Ocean City, two sons Walter Kersey of Hudson and James Kersey and wife Kelly of San Diego, CA, two grandchildren John Kersey and Chase Kersey, a special nephew William "Sonny" James, his beloved dog Cody and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be James Kersey, William James, Craig Carmen, Dolan Hurley, Dougie Lewis and Bill Elzey.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Spedden Seward Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Miller officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802, St. Matthews by the Sea, 1000 Coastal Highway, Fenwick Island, DE 19944 or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
