W. Allan Parker, Jr

W. Allan Parker, Jr., 72 of Moyock, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 20, 2010. He was born in Cambridge on February 16, 1938, and was a son of the late Walter Allan Parker, Sr., and the late Frances Elizabeth Brannock Parker.

Mr. Parker attended schools in Cambridge. On March 1, 1957 he was married to the former Catherine Ann Insley. Some years ago he had worked at Cambridge Wire Cloth, and had also delivered the Baltimore News American. Mr. Parker worked primarily as a waterman and also driven a truck for Wise Oil & Fuel for 15 years. He was a member of the White Haven United Methodist Church in Church Creek, and was also a charter member of the Church Creek Vol. Fire Co. Mr. Parker had made his home in North Carolina since 2003. He had been in failing health for the past four years when he passed away at his home on Wednesday.

Survivors include his wife Catherine Ann Parker of Moyock, NC, one daughter Cheryl Workman and her husband Joseph Workman of Moyock, NC, two sons Richard A. Parker and his wife Lori Parker and Gary P. Parker both of Cambridge, two granddaughters Deanna Davis and Stephanie Morris, two grandsons Patrick Parker and Nathan Workman, two great granddaughter, Katherine Davis and Nicole Parker. He is also survived by a step grandson Steve Workman, three sisters Wanda Parker of Florida, Pat Riggins and her husband Roy Riggins of Delmar, DE and Mary Todd and her husband Keith Todd of East New Market and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 12:00 PM at the Cambridge Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Joseph Harmon and the Rev. David Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the White Haven United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Jeanne Ewell, 5134 Paw Paw Point Road, Cambridge, MD 21613, or to the Church Creek Vol. Fire Co., P.O. Box 16, Church Creek, MD 21622. Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
