Wallace I. Pink

Wallace I. Pink, 84 of Cambridge, passed away on Monday February 2, 2009 at the Mallard Bay Care Center in Cambridge. He was born in Cambridge on June 24, 1924, and was a son of the late Irwin F. and Doris Bradshaw Pink.

Mr. Pink attended schools in Cambridge and graduated from the Randolph Macon Military Academy in 1943. He served in the US Army during WW II, serving with General Patton's Third Army in France, Germany and Austria. He received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Combat Infantry Medal. On August 17, 1945 he married the former Ann Foble. Mr. Pink worked at Cambridge Wire Cloth in sales for 41 years. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. Mr. Pink enjoyed amateur radio. Since the early 1980's they had spent half of their time in Texas and the other half here in Cambridge. He had been in failing health since June and had been a resident at the Mallard Bay Care Center for the past two weeks where he passed away on Monday afternoon.

He is survived by his wife Ann F. Pink of Cambridge, three sons John I. Pink of Annapolis, James Pink and wife Esperanza Pink of Los Fresnos, Texas and Jerry Pink and wife Penny Pink of Cambridge, seven grandchildren, 11 great grand children, a sister Dolores Pritchett of Cambridge and a brother Ed Pink of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery with the Rev. David Wooten officiating. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Doris Weber, 5163 Maple Dam Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
