Walter B. Gunby

Walter B. Gunby, 77, of East New Market passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury. He was born in Wilmington, DE on January 4, 1947 and was a son of the late Dr. Walter Edwin Gunby, Jr. and Marie Brock Gunby.

He graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1965, went to Salisbury University with an English Major, and UMBC where he received his Law Degree. On October 29, 1983 he married the former Carol Ann Sellers. Mr. Gunby was owner of The Law office of Walter B. Gunby for forty plus years. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren. He looked forward to vacations heading to the beach to play Frisbee in the surf with his dog Lolly.

Walt was an avid reader but also enjoyed hunting, fishing, sailing and animals. Some years ago Walt was involved in martial arts and was a second degree Black Belt in Isshinryu Karate under the direction of Duane Dieter.

Mr. Gunby was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Hurlock where he served on the Security team. 

He is survived by his wife Carol A. Gunby of East New Market, a son Jeffrey Linthicum and wife Mary Beth of Woolford, two grandchildren Jenna and Will Linthicum, and brother Richard E. Gunby of Ashboro, NC. 

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 11am at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. David Talley officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the East New Market Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 280, East New Market, MD 21631 or to a charity of choice.
