Wanda V. Hurley, 72, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Mallard Bay Care Center. She was born in Cambridge on March 22, 1944 and was a daughter of the late Martin Edward Valliant and Grace Shirley Christopher Valliant, but she was raised by her grandparents James Christopher and Mary Ida Thomas Christopher.
She graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1962. On May 27, 1966, she married Richard N. “Skip” Hurley, who passed away on April 16, 2012. Mrs. Hurley had worked at Airpax in the shipping department and had also worked at Matech for a few years. She enjoyed bingo, playing cards and going to the casinos.
She is survived by five sisters Carol Perry and her husband Pete of Cambridge, Shelley Collins of Cambridge, Terry Stewart of Cambridge, Robin Rohner of Cambridge, Tina Newnam of Cambridge, two step sons Richard Dennis Hurley of Cambridge and Robert Kevin Hurley of Delaware, two step grandchildren Richard Brandon Gambrill and wife Robin and Jennifer Hurley, three step great granddaughters Sierra Gambrill, Shyanne Gambrill and Skyler Gambrill and several nieces and nephews. Beside her parents and her husband, Mrs. Hurley is preceded in death by a brother James Edward Valliant.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 1 pm at Dorchester Memorial Park with Rev. Richard Prahl officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
