Wendy L. Wilson

Wendy Loy (Melvin) Wilson, 80, of Cambridge passed away on April 6, 2025 at her home after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease while under the care of Coastal Hospice.

Wendy was born in St. Louis, MO on April 17, 1944 to her late parents, Edward Loy and Hilda Beatrice Melvin. She grew up in Arbutus, Baltimore County, graduating from Catonsville High School. She graduated from the University of Maryland College Park, where she met the love of her life, Thomas W. Wilson. They were married on August 6, 1966. He always said “he rescued her and moved her to God’s Country” Cambridge, MD where they made their home. She would always respond with “and it was a big culture shock.”

She was employed for most of her career as a Social Worker for the Maryland Department of Social Services. After her retirement, she worked for 10 years at Pleasant Day Adult Medical Center.

Wendy is survived by her husband of 58 years, a daughter Bambi W. Stevens (Howard) of Catonsville, MD, son Toby (Julie) of Ellicott City, MD 2 grandsons Tucker W. Stevens and Beckett W. Stevens, a granddaughter Sosie M. Wilson and a sister in law Joan Wilson of Clermont, FL.

Wendy enjoyed traveling, reading, crossword puzzles and cooking. She and Tom were fortunate to have been able to travel and visited many countries around the world. In recent years, they enjoyed traveling on the bus trips with Dorchester AARP. She was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church, Cambridge, MD and served in many positions and on many committees and projects until her health failed.
