William H. Baumgartner, 76, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016 at UMSMC at Dorchester. He was born in Cambridge on October 26, 1939 and was a son of the late Mary Louise Manning Hurley and Herman Ralph Baumgartner.

Mr. Baumgartner graduated from North Dorchester High School class of 1958. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in France. On January 28, 1966, he married the former Nancy Bundie. Mr. Baumgartner was agriculture manager and salesman for several companies and during that time, he and his wife owned and operated Jones and Moore’s. He enjoyed gardening, animals, fishing, and reading. He also enjoyed sitting on his porch looking over the creek. He was a member of American Legion Post #91, and AARP.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Baumgartner of Cambridge, a son Brian Baumgartner and wife Lisa of East New Market, a daughter Kim Baumgartner and her spouse Nicola Brown of Bethesda, two granddaughters Haley and Gabrielle "Brie" Baumgartner, a sister Kay Adshead of Hurlock and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Baumgartner is preceded in death by a brother Phillip Baumgartner.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 1 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor Bill Cropper officiating. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Eastern Shore Chapter, 909 Progress Circle Ste. 400, Salisbury, MD 21804, in memory of his niece Amy Mally or to a charity of one’s choice.
