William Edward “Fuzzy” Elzey, 86, passed away at UMSMC at Dorchester on August 10, 2016. He was born in Church Creek on January 27, 1930 to the late James G. Elzey, Sr. and Evelyn Phillips Elzey.
Mr. Elzey attended schools in Cambridge. On September 24, 1954 he married the former Thelma Lynn Fitzhugh, who passed away on February 5, 1973. He worked and retired from Cambridge Wire Cloth. In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing baseball. He also loved to watch baseball games and wrestling matches with his son. He enjoyed listening to country music, attending country concerts, and listening to the Grand Ole Opry. Mr. Elzey was a member of the Cambridge Moose Lodge and Cambridge Elks Lodge.
Mr. Elzey is survived by a son Craig Elzey, Sr. of East New Market, a grandson Craig Elzey, Jr. and his wife Kassi Jo of East New Market, a great-granddaughter Lita Marie Elzey of East New Market, a sister Beatrice Lewis of Cambridge, several nieces and nephews, and a longtime friend Pearl Wingfield of Cambridge. Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Elzey is preceded in death by three brothers James Elzey, Jr., Charles Elzey, and Robert Elzey, and his step mother Edith Elzey.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 12 PM at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge Maryland with Reverend Mary Ann Farnell officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Maryland at 1107 Kenilworth Dr., Suite 202, Baltimore, MD 21204-2186. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
