William J. Lindner, Sr

William J. Lindner, Sr., 89, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013 at his home. He was born in Cambridge on March 28, 1924 and was a son of the late Arthur Max Lindner and Naomi C. Brooks Lindner.

After graduating from Cambridge High School class of 1941, he worked in Baltimore. He entered the U.S. Army, serving in the 29th Division. After he was discharged, he worked at the Eastern Aircraft General Motors Division in Baltimore. There he met and married Sybil Wanda Akers on August 4, 1945. He returned to the family farm on Egypt Road. Later, he started farming on his own with his children. He was a member of the Cambridge Wesleyan Church, Cambridge Lodge No. 66 A.F. & A.M., Boumi Shriners, Scottish Rite, Cambridge Lodge No 1272 B.P.O.E., Dorchester Post # 91 American Legion, Dorchester County Farm Bureau, where he had served on the Board of Directors. He enjoyed working with antique cars and was a member of the Bay Country Antique Auto Club as well the Antique Auto Club of America. He enjoyed duck and goose hunting as well as fishing and boating. He is survived by his wife S. Wanda Lindner of Cambridge, two daughters Cynthia Wanda Tall and her husband Dale Tall of Hilton Head, South Carolina, Zanna Lindner Reitz and her husband David Reitz of Cambridge, one son William Jefferson Lindner, Jr. and Jennifer Lindner of Cambridge, three grandchildren Michael W. Tall of Charleston, SC, Johanna Colburn of Baltimore and Katie S. Lindner of Baltimore and a great grandson Easton James Tall. Besides his parents, Mr. Lindner is preceded in death by a grandson Christopher Kyle Lindner.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Pritchett, Paul Moore, Charles Tinley, Derek Wattay, Bobby Brooks and George Brody.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 1p.m. at Dorchester Memorial Park with Rev. Jack Diehl officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Boy Scout of America Troop 209, 5637 Springdale Road, East New Market, MD 21631, where his grandson C. Kyle Lindner was an Eagle Scout. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
