William J. “Moose” Moosegian, 91, of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, DE. He was born in Hopewell, VA on April 3, 1924 and was a son of the late Peter and Mary McCormick Moosegian.
He attended schools in Hopewell, VA. Moose served in the U.S. Navy on a destroyer escort. On November 27, 1952, he married the former Margaret “Manes” Gore, who passed away on March 9, 2011. He was a lifelong iron worker, where he worked on the original Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Moose enjoyed golfing, traveling, going to the casino, boating and skiing. He was a member of American Legion Post 91, Cambridge Lodge #66, A.F. & A.M., Cambridge Elks, Choptank Memorial Post 7460 VFW and the Grand National Waterfowl.
Moose is survived by a sister Margaret Carroll of Richmond, VA, two nieces Judy Weeks and husband Richard and Brenda Armstrong and husband John, a nephew Mark Carroll and wife Debbie, a niece Diane Harrington and husband David of Cambridge, two great nephews Brian Harrington and wife Jennifer and Brooke Harrington all of Cambridge, a niece Bonnie Gore of Cambridge and nephews, nieces and great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Moosegian is preceded in death by two brothers Harry and Paul Moosegian.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Edgar, John Lane, Jr., Jonathan Harrington, Mark Carroll, Bunky Smith, Bill McGinn, Bobby Allen and Richard Weeks.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Dorchester Memorial Park with Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
