William “Billy” W. Fitzhugh, Jr., 89, of Hurlock passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Autumn Lake at Chesapeake Woods. He was born in Town Point on July 19, 1934 and was a son of the late William Walton Fitzhugh, Sr. and Ruby Hurley Fitzhugh.
Mr. Fitzhugh graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1952. Most of his life, he was a farmer, but later he worked with the Maryland Department of Soil Conservation. Mr. Fitzhugh enjoyed working on lawnmowers, bowling, playing cards, doing genealogy and helping his son on the farm. He was a member of the American Legion Post #91, Moose Lodge, Zion United Methodist Church, and a past member of the Cambridge Elks.
He is survived by two sons Jeff Fitzhugh and wife Amy of Hurlock and Duane Fitzhugh and companion Rudy Bertile of Harpers Ferry, W. VA, two grandchildren Hunter and Victoria Fitzhugh. Besides his parents, Mr. Fitzhugh is preceded in death by his former wife Shelda Fitzhugh.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Jackson, Ricky Pritchett, Mark Smith, Bill Gullion, Randy White and Wally Taylor.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 1pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
