William Franklin Windsor, 81, of Wingate passed away on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Mallard Bay Care Center. He was born in Cambridge on November 24, 1932 and was a son of the late Willis Jester Windsor and Mildred Tawes Windsor.
He attended schools in Crapo. On December 9, 1950, he married the former Barbara Wingate, who passed away on November 7, 2010. Mr. Windsor was a waterman all of his life. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by three children Frankie Windsor and wife Joyce of East New Market, Carson Windsor and wife Karen of East New Market and Cheryl Dawson of Wingate, two grandchildren Kyle Dawson and Jodi Grsriel, two great grandchildren Olivia Grsriel and Molly E. Grsriel, two brothers Vernon O'Neal Windsor of Wingate and William Hudson Windsor and wife Doris Jean of Wingate and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Mr. Windsor is preceded in death by his brothers Willis Jester "Buster" Windsor, Willis Cleveland "Sonny" Windsor, Jr., Charles Turner, Sr., Robert Windsor and sisters Marybelle Causey, Reba Disharoon, Elizabeth Pritchett and Marion Virginia Powley.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Todd, John Ashton, Rudy Robbins, Bill Edwards, Charles Turner, Jr., Doug Parks, Shannon Dawson and Danny Dawson. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Hayward, Dickie Dawson, Mike Dawson, Quentin Dawson and Frank Green.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor George W. Wheatley, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
