William E. “Bill” Trego, 88, of Madison passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at UMSMC at Dorchester. He was born in Madison on April 24, 1927 to the late Samuel E. and Bertha M. Brooks Tregoe.
Mr. Trego attended schools in Cambridge. He served in the United States Army until he retired in 1966 in Fort Ord, CA. Bill served two tours in Germany and one tour in Alaska as well as serving in WW II, Korea and Panama. In 1949, Mr. Trego married the former Margaret Driemel. After the military, he started his own flooring business, William Trego Flooring, from which he retired in the 1980’s. Bill enjoyed fishing, crabbing, gardening, bird watching, Westerns and raising German Shepherds. Mr. Trego was a member of the Baltimore Masonic Lodge, the Boumi Temple in Baltimore, the Eastern Shore Shriners, the Shriners of Alaska, the Scottish Rites in Alaska, the Marina, CA VFW and the Cambridge VFW Post #7460.
Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years Margaret D. Trego, a daughter Anne Enders of CA, one granddaughter Dawn Trego of California, three great grandchildren Noah Trego, Izzabella Trego and Tristann Trego of CA, one sister Edna Wirts of Utah, many nieces and nephews and loyal companion Sheeba. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a son Freddy J. Trego and his siblings Norman Trego, Beno Trego, Hilda Trego, Louise Walter and Betty Lawrence.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Madison United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert G. Kirkley officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison United Methodist Churchyard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison United Methodist Church, c/o Margaret Trego, 4610 White Marsh Rd., Madison, MD 21648. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
