William H. Brooks, Jr.

William H. Brooks, Jr. 88, of East New Market, MD passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at UMSMC at Easton. He was born in Woolford on August 27, 1934 and as a son of the late William H. Brooks, Sr. and Ethel Wroten Brooks.

Mr. Brooks attended Cambridge High School. As a young man, he worked for Phillips Packing Company and later for Cambridge Wire Cloth as a supervisor until he retired with 45 years of service. He served in the Maryland Army National Guard for 9 years and was a member of the 29th Division for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 166 in Ocean City for 18 years. Mr. Brooks enjoyed crabbing, fishing and he loved his dogs. Mr. Brooks was League Champion from 1967-1968 of the American Bowling Congress, and he coached Cambridge Girls Softball. Mr. Brooks volunteered at the Cambridge MAC Center.

He is survived by two nephews Philip Brooks, Jr. and wife Vicki of East New Market and Robert Brooks of Hurlock, two great nephews and a great niece. Besides his parents, Mr. Brooks is preceded in death by three brothers Jimmy Brooks, Davis Brooks and Philip Brooks, Sr.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 11 am at East New Market Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
