William M. Wroten

William M. “Babe” Wroten, Sr., 82, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie. He was born in Cambridge on November 22, 1932 and was a son of the late Arthur T. and Gladys “Honey” Elzey Wroten.

Babe attended schools in Cambridge. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and had a tour of duty in Korea. On August 19, 1955, he married the former Frances Juanita “Sis” Insley, who passed away on February 2, 2011. Babe was a Stationary Engineer with the State of Maryland. He enjoyed building remote control Skipjacks and sailing them in Pinks Pond. Babe was a longtime member of Rescue Fire Company, and the Choptank Memorial Post 7460 VFW.

Survivors include two daughters Vicki Bloodsworth and husband Steve of Cambridge and Debbie Leh and husband Eric of Hurlock, a son William M. Wroten, Jr. and wife Monica of Cambridge, four grandchildren Stephen Bloodsworth, Cullen Bloodsworth, Wesley Wroten and Eric Leh, Jr. Besides his parents and his wife, Babe is preceded in death by three brothers Arthur "Art" Wroten, Jr., George "Buddy" Wroten and Robert "Fats" Wroten.

Pallbearers will be family members.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. with his son in law Rev. Steve Bloodsworth officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
