Wm. Russell Mills, 98, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Delmar Manor Assisted Living. He was born in Cambridge on June 20, 1919 and was a son of the late James Mills, Sr. and Elizabeth Rommel Mills.

Mr. Mills graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1937. He served in the U.S. Navy during the invasion of Normandy. On June 16, 1945, he married the former Elsie Kolb, who passed away on September 2, 1978. On April 25, 1981, he married the former Mary Magdalene Johnson, who passed away on June 18, 2007. Mr. Mills had worked with J.C. Penney Company, John H. Dulaney Company and Gerber Products Company. After retirement, he worked part time with Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, where he taught Men’s Bible Class, served on the administration board and chairman of the Board of Trustee’s. Mr. Mills was also a member of the Cambridge Lodge #66 AF&AM, where he was a Past Master and served as treasurer and President of the Board of Trustee’s and a member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon Forest #115.

He is survived by two daughters Sandra M. Stokes and husband Ernie of Hurlock and Bonnie Wright and husband Chuck of Cambridge, three grandchildren Ricky Smith and wife Valerie and Megan Daniels and husband Ryan and Amy Znaniec and husband Ed, a step son G. Herbert Robinson III and wife Barbara of Cambridge, several step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wives, Mr. Mills is preceded in death by a brother Robert "Dal" Mills and a step son Frederick Robinson, Sr.

Pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 1pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Michael Hurley officiating. Interment will follow at Christ Churchyard. A Masonic Service will be held at 12:45. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Zion United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, 612 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD 21613.
