Woodrow W. "Mutt" Moore, 95 of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Chesapeake Woods Center. He was born in Cambridge on March 4, 1913 and was a son of the late E. Mack and Nettie Tyler Moore.
Mr. Moore was the first graduating class from Cambridge High School. On June 26, 1934 he married LoRaine Jones. She passed away on July 24, 1999. Mr. Moore had worked for several grocery stores and operated a grocery store at Academy and Muir. During WWII he served as President of the Maryland Grocery Association. Later he was a sales representative for International Salt Company and Harvey Salt Company and retired in 1978. He was a member of the Rescue Fire Company, Grace United Methodist Church and a past member of the Cambridge Lions Club.
He is survived by a son Richard W. Moore, Sr. and his wife Sharon of Cambridge, a daughter in law Mary Moore of Cambridge, two grandsons Richard W. Moore, Jr. of Cambridge and Joseph I. Moore and his wife Kim of Davidsonville, three great grandchildren Cavin A. Moore, Joseph I. Moore, Jr. and Henley E. Moore and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, he is preceded in death by a sister Elizabeth Johnson and a granddaughter in law Crystal Murray Moore.
Pallbearers will be members of Rescue Fire Company.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Rescue Fire Company, P.O. Box 776, Cambridge, MD 21613.
