Woodrow F. “Woody” Robbins, 60, of Trappe passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at UMSMC at Easton. He was born in Cambridge on March 20, 1954 to the late Corbett B. and Nancy Ruark Robbins, Jr.
Mr. Robbins graduated from Cambridge South Dorchester High School class of 1972. He joined the United States Navy and was a third class machinist mate and served on the U.S.S. Seattle. On March 20, 1982 he married the former Dolores Nickerson, who passed away on April 5, 2010. Mr. Robbins worked for Dorchester General Hospital and retired from the NSA after 32 years of service. Woody enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle and collecting guns. He deeply loved his wife and children.
Woody is survived by his son Corbett Robbins of Trappe, a sister Cindy R. Jones and husband Paul of East New Market, his in-laws Donald and Connie Nickerson of Cambridge, a sister-in-law Anna Willey and husband Mike of Cambridge, special cousin Jeff Robbins and wife Valerie of Harmony, a special caregiver Ricky Rossy and many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and his parents he is preceded in death by a son Donald J. “DJ” Robbins and a daughter Sophia A. Robbins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Jones, Ricky Rossy, Kevin Smith, Jeff Robbins, Mike Willey, Sr. and Scott Jones.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Gary Crouch officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
