Zadith V. Cook, 94, of Cambridge formerly of Annapolis passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Chesapeake Woods Center. She was born in Bishops Head on July 23, 1923 and was a daughter of the late Ashland and Janie Parks Ruark.
Mrs. Cook graduated from Cambridge High School and continued on and graduated from business school in Salisbury. On November 25, 1964, she married John L. Cook, who passed away on August 26, 2017. She worked for the State of Maryland Income Tax Division, where she retired. Mrs. Cook enjoyed bowling, boating and was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan. She was a member of the Cambridge Moose Lodge 1211, Annapolis Moose Lodge 296, and Cambridge Elks Lodge 1272.
She is survived by a son in law John W. Matthews III of Cambridge, four granddaughters Beth Matthews of Salisbury, Amy Matthews of Cambridge, Julie Harp and husband Chris of East New Market and Tina Griffith Homick and husband Patrick of Virginia, a grandson Matthew Griffith, Jr of California, six great grandchildren Trey Davis, Hannah Harp, Megan Harp and Cian Harp, Brennan Griffith, and Patrick Homick II, a daughter in law Liz Griffith of California, and a sister in law Peggy Ruark of East New Market. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Cook is preceded in death by two children Glenn Griffith and G. Diane Matthews, a brother Rufus Ruark, and a sister Julia Utz.
A chapel service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 1 pm at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Steve Bloodsworth officiating. Family will receive friends from 11 to 12 at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
