Emma D. Gore

Emma D. Gore, 94 of Cambridge, passed away at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge on Saturday March 7, 2009. She was born at Wesley on February 26, 1915, and was a daughter of the late John Emory and Laura Ellen Hughes Moore.

She attended school in Wesley. On March 19, 1962 she was married to Alonza Gore. Mr. Gore passed away on August 22, 1979. For most of her life she was a homemaker and liked to sew. Mrs. Gore had been in failing health for several years, and was a resident at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge where she passed away on Saturday morning.

Survivors include two nieces Joan Stevens of Rock Hall and Carmen Kuhn of Hudson, four nephews Robert C. Todd of Linkwood, Gillis Todd, Jr. of Church Creek, Gilbert Hart of Lakesville and Dewey Hart of Lakesville, stepdaughter Betty Harris of Cambridge, step grandson Shane DeGroat and wife Angie of Hinesville, GA, several great nieces and great nephews and several cousins. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death two brothers Gordy Moore and Emerson Moore, two sisters Maggie Todd and Evelyn Hart, two nephews Jerol Moore and Emerson Todd.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 PM at the East New Market Cemetery with the Rev. David Kreek officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 PM on Wednesday at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. Pallbearers will be Dewey Hart, Gilbert Hart, Donnie Moore, Robert Todd, Gillis Todd, Jr. and Michael Stevens.
