Marie A. Mills, 88, of Madison passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Dorchester General Hospital. She was born in Fishing Creek on July 20, 1920 and was a daughter of the late Nelson and Anita Abbott Brittingham.
Mrs. Mills attended schools in South Dorchester. She had worked at various sewing factories. Mrs. Mills was married to the late Harvey Mills. Mrs. Mills loved her cat. Some of her hobbies were sewing and cooking. She was a life time member of Madison Volunteer Fire Company and a life time member of Madison United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter Linda Willey and husband Leroy of Madison, three brothers Edward Brittingham of Church Creek, George Brittingham of East New Market, and Allan Brittingham of Church Creek, two sisters Frances Phillips of Salisbury and Mary Draper of Salisbury, a close family friend Jean Ann Wielgosz of Secretary, many nieces and nephews and her close community friends. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Mills is preceded in death by a son William Harvey Mills, Jr., a sister Ann Mathias and two brothers Harold and Nelson Brittingham.
Pallbearers will be David Frazier, Sammy Horseman, Barry Wingate, Charles Moore, Raymond Aaron and Phillip Frazier.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with Rev. Robert G. Kirkley officiating. Burial will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Madison Volunteer Fire Company, P.O.
