She attended schools at Hoopers Island.
On August 11, 1960 she was married to George C. Burton. Some years ago she had been a member of Hosier Memorial United Methodist Church. Mrs. Burton had driven a school bus for the Dorchester Co. Board of Education for about 20 years. She had also been a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her home as well as her yard. Mrs. Burton had been in failing health for the past nine years and was taken to Dorchester General Hospital on Monday where she passed away early Tuesday morning
Survivors include her husband George C. Burton of Cambridge, one son Mark G. Burton and his wife Tracie Burton of Hurlock, two grandchildren Connor Burton and Gavin Burton and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters Annabelle Wanex and Frances Robbins.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 P.M. at Dorchester Memorial Park with the Rev. J. Edward King officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
Peggy J. Burton, 74 of Cambridge, passed away at the Dorchester General Hospital on Tuesday October 28, 2008. She was born at Hoopers Island on March 3, 1934, and was a daughter of the late Olin and Katherine Cannon Ruark.
